Æther Whale
These huge creatures can reach a length of 3 miles in length but are usually
just under a mile. Their bodies consist of a mineral based amalgam of silica
and metals with rocky exteriors. They project a large magnetic field in front
of their gaping maw to take in space dust, debris and gasses and metabolize
them to produce heat and a form of Ionic Propulsion. They travel in groups of
no more than twelve and although they have never purposely interfered with
ships, they have presented a navigational hazard. Æther Whale biology produces
quantities of Tryolic Phlogisten which has many uses in power systems. The
beasts are therefore hunted by æther whalers for this valuable commodity.
Reports from a certain Captain Ahab operating in the asteriod belt reported the
existence of a gigantic white specimen but the reports have have not been
confirmed by Ætherfleet Command. |
