Venus was the first planet that man set foot on when venturing into the
æther. Venus, shrouded in its veil of clouds, concealed endless tracks
of steaming jungle and sweltering swamp populated with all manner of
dinosaurs. The shallow inland seas are teaming with Mesozoic creatures.
Several species of reptilian humanoid have developed on Venus. The
Lizard men or Reptiliads are aboriginal in nature and can act as guides
or labor in exchange for trade goods. Unrelated to the Reptiliads an
alien race known as the Gorhn have claimed the southern plateau area
and are hostile to human intrusion. Gorhn do posses interplanetary
travel and have had run-ins with several Ukp Ships.
Due
to the strange nature of the Venusian magnetic, ætheric and
gravitational fields use of Transmigrators is impossible. Even
communications can be adversly affected by the slightest atmospheric
disturbance. Never the less many British companies have flourished due
to the vastness of Venus's diverse plants. Organic chemicals,
pharmaceuticals, biological materials even zoological oddities are all
in abundance here. The main British enclave occupies the top of Mount
Maxwell on the Victoria plateau. A UKP research station also lies
floating upon the Sea of Chutney, in the southern hemisphere. There the
UKP science division performs research on Venus's aquadic frora and
fauna. |
