Plasma Mice
Plasma Mice are semi-transparent, ion-charged creatures that drift through the conduits and steam-coil arrays of star-steam vessels. Born from pockets of condensed æther, they glow with a soft electric aura and move in erratic, flickering pulses that resemble tiny lightning storms.
Their bodies shimmer with ionized light, appearing semi-transparent except for the crackling cores within their chests.
They feed on ambient electrical discharge, often nibbling insulation or siphoning static from steam-coil arrays. When startled, they emit soft arcs of blue-white plasma, producing a faint chirping buzz like a tiny tesla coil attempting to speak.
Cute—until they short out an entire communications deck.
Plasma Mice rarely interact with crew members, instead preferring to nest in high-energy environments such as:
-
steam-coil clusters -
power transfer conduits
-
ion-vent maintenance shafts
-
æther-leak pockets near reactor seals
Their tendency to feed on excess charge makes them harmless most of the time—though they’ve been known to cause flickering lights when they gather in large numbers.
If your ship hosts Plasma Mice, you may also encounter: Spark Drifters, Æther Gnats, and Voltage Moths. These species often cœxist within the same power-rich environments.
