United Kingdom of Planets |
Victoria viewed the solar system in the same way she had once viewed the Earth. Britain needed to gain control of the system through a variety of means including colonization, conquest and confederation. In the 1980's Queen Victoria proposed a grand new alliance of the ruling entities of the known solar system with the formation of the United Kingdom of Planets. This association under the protection and guidance of Queen Victoria and the constitutional monarchy of Britain and it's allies would help to promote interstellar understanding, develop trade and cooperation and to further explore the uncharted vastness of the Æther. Most of the prior established British colonies signed the charter as well as the Vulkans, Endurians and other minority races. The Royal Æther Fleet was placed at the disposal of the UKP thus creating Æther Fleet Command, Æther Fleet Academy and other organizations such as UK Medical, UK Corps of Engineers, The Diplomatic Bureau and the Central Sciences Division.
The mission statement of the Starfleet quotes from the immortal words of Captain Adams of the HMS Bellerophon "To Explore Romantic New Worlds, To Seek Out New Life And Establish Civilization, To Boldly Go Where No Gentleman Has Gone Before". Even though the Fleet lists exploration as it's primary duty it also includes in its' mission Defense of the commonwealth and maintaining interplanetary peace. It is plainly obvious to most that the Æther Fleet carries out the will of Queen Victoria when hearing their ubiquitous aphorism; "God Save the Queen"
