Captain: Edmund Blackadder

The Scabbard was lost for six months while on routine patrol. When it returned to civilization Edmund Blackadder reported that an armada of aliens had captured The Ship. According to the captain's log Edmund defeated the entire enemy force and saved the Ship. The last dying act of the former captain was to award a field promotion to then Lt. Blackadder. Unfortunately no crew member can corroborate The Story as they were all held in stasis.
